Arbitration Experience
Since 1993 appointed mostly as sole Arbitrator and Adjudicator in disputes involving government departments, utility companies, major contractors and public bodies including eight Presidential Appointments since admission to the list. Appeared as Expert Witness in litigation, Arbitration and Public Enquiry on many occasions.
Career
Over 30 years experience in the design and project management of structural and civil engineering projects in Britain and overseas (West Africa, Arabia and Western and Eastern Europe). As a practising Civil Engineer he has been responsible for the design and supervision of the construction of major building foundations, basement construction, road design and associated earthworks together with the design and planning of major investigations into abandoned mine workings. He has advised local authorities and private concerns on foundations, ground stability and mine workings, contractual disputes and environmental issues including waste management and pollution.
Overseas Experience:
Experience of working practices and dispute resolution in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Russia and Azerbaijan.

A member of the steering group of the CIRIA publication ’Piles in Weak Rock’.
Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management: Former member of the waste management panel.
Other Activities:
Lecturer on Contract Law, Environmental Law and Arbitration at Universities, conferences and private training courses. Visiting lecturer to Birmingham and Nottingham Trent Universities.
Publications:
Authored and co-authored papers on geotechnical engineering including "Limestone Mine Workings in the West Midlands" International conference on construction in areas of abandoned mine workings, "Deformations caused by tunnelling beneath a piled structure" Thirteen ICSMFE, New Delhi, India, "Compensated Foundations at Angle Square, London. Fifth International Conference and Exhibition on Piling and Deep Foundations, “Reappraisal of the Design of CFA Piles in Silty Sands” and “The performance of bored and CFA piling within the mudstones of Central England”.
