Background

Emma has so far practised predominantly in crime but also has experience in civil matters and is looking to expand her civil practice.
Emma graduated from the University of Westminster with a 2:1 LLB Honours degree.
Emma attended the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law in London where she was awarded a Very Competent in her Bar Finals.
Prior to obtaining a pupillage Emma worked in commercial property and the insolvency sphere where she worked on a number of high profile cases.
Emma completed pupillage with 187 Fleet Street and 3 Temple Gardens, Chambers of John Coffey QC before joining Academy Chambers in April 2006.
She is also a member of the Criminal Bar Association and the Free Representation Unit.
Emma is a Jules Thorn Scholar of Middle Temple.

Emma has appeared in both the Crown and Magistrates Court dealing with:

* Prosecution and defence matters. She has been instructed for First Appearances, Bail Applications, PTRs, Committals, Trials, Appeals and Sentencing.
* Prosecutions on behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions and Customs and Excise.
* Local Education Authorities (Education Act offences)
* Premier Monitoring “Tagging offences”
* Youth Court matters dealing with vulnerable witnesses, mental heath defendants.

Emma’s practice covers all aspects of criminal offences including violent crime, drugs, arson, dishonesty and sexual offences.

· Landlord and Tenant actions and Possession hearings
